The Highland Breed
The highland breed of cattle has a long and distinguished ancestry, not only
in its homeland of western Scotland, but also in many far-flung parts of the
world. One of Britain's oldest, most distinctive, and best known breeds, with a
long, thick, flowing coat of rich hair and majestic sweeping horns, the
Highlander has remained largely unchanged over the centuries.

We started Ardentraive Fold in October 2000 with a purchase of three in-calf heifers who were halter trained and made the journey over to Kerrera on the open deck of the ferry. We have since grown to our current herd of 10 breeding cows, heifers, steers and our stock bull, Kyle of Lagg. Our fold comprises stock from Glengorm, Benmore, Cnoc, Drimnin, Ardbhan and Torrie folds as well as home bred cattle. We are members of the Hi Health Scheme and have Elite health status for IBR, BVD, Johnes and Leptospirosis. |
